Two of the leading SubGHz RF protocols, Z-Wave and LoRaWan, and the new WiFi-Halow Wave Long Range lack head-to-head testing in real-world operating environments. Z-Wave Long Range and LoRaWan are established protocols, Wifi-HaLow is a relative new comer to IoT but operates in the 900MHz band in the US. This project will obtain commercial products of each protocol and test them in real-world locations in New England. The methods used for testing will be fully documented allowing others to replicate the results which will be presented at the Things Conference and Z-Wave Summit in the fall of 2026.
