From IoT Platforms to IoT ERP: Rethinking the Operational Future of Connected Systems
Paul Pinault
After more than a decade of experimentation and large-scale deployments, traditional IoT platforms, primarily focused on data collection and visualization, are reaching their limits in addressing real operational needs. Managing connected assets at scale now requires capabilities similar to enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including identity governance, lifecycle management, security, compliance, maintenance, and software updates. This talk explores why the next evolution of the Internet of Things is not another dashboard-centric platform, but an integrated IoT ERP approach designed to structure, secure, and operate connected fleets as true enterprise resources. Through concrete examples and field experience, we will examine how this shift reshapes technology priorities, organizational models, long-term value creation and ensure new regulation compliance, in the era of massive IoT deployment.
