From Data Sheets to Data Streams: Making IoT Devices Speak for Themselves
Ege Korkan, Haoyu Ren
The journey from deploying an IoT device to extracting valuable insights often involves significant effort in understanding and integrating its data. This keynote will explore the practical advantages of providing more machine-readable information for IoT devices, with a particular focus on LoRaWAN. By offering clearer, standardized descriptions of device capabilities and data semantics, manufacturers can help users streamline onboarding, improve data quality, and substantially reduce the need for manual data mapping. We will discuss how this approach benefits both manufacturers and users by fostering easier adoption and more reliable data, and briefly touch upon how open standards like the Web of Things are relevant in building a more efficient and interoperable IoT landscape.
