Azure IoT Operations, the edge of tomorrow

Sander van de Velde

Let's explore the seamless integration of Azure IoT Operations with Microsoft Fabric, unlocking real-time intelligence across the industrial edge. As the latest solution for highly available edge computing within the Azure ecosystem, Azure IoT Operations leverages modern standards such as MQTT, OPC UA, and SSE to provide a robust suite of integration solutions. It honors the distinct requirements for IT administrators, OT engineers, and Data Engineers, from managing local Kubernetes clusters to executing low-code southbound data transformations, to adding real-time insights and actions in the cloud.

The presentation begins with an introduction to Azure IoT Operations, then dives into the value of integrating with Microsoft Fabric Real-Time Intelligence. Through hands-on demonstrations, featuring physical hardware like private LoRaWAN sensors and ONVIF supporting IP cameras, attendees will experience how to configure edge operations using the IoT Operations experience portal, collecting device messages and integrating them directly into Fabric’s real-time features.

Once telemetry reaches Microsoft Fabric, the focus shifts to generating actionable insights. Attendees will see how this SaaS data platform simplifies the ingestion of industrial data through a no-code portal experience. The demonstrations show a medallion architecture, utilizing Conversational AI and Ontology, turning raw data into business logic.

To be able to go into detail as much as possible, this workshop will be provided as a presentation. This session provides a practical jumpstart for attendees leveraging Azure IoT Operations and Microsoft Fabric features to enhance IoT on the edge and in the cloud.
