The story of Spel Bel.
What if helping kids spend more time offline doesn’t require less technology—but better, more playful use of it?
In this talk, Marcel Schouwenaar shares the story of how a simple idea—sparked by the challenges raised by Jantje Beton—grew into something much bigger. Instead of fighting screens, he and his collective ScrollScrollScroll started experimenting: combining creativity, resourcefulness, and LoRa technology to nudge kids back outside.
What followed wasn’t a master plan, but a process. Prototypes turned into conversations. Ideas spread. Kids and parents joined in, shaping the solutions themselves. And somewhere along the way, it stopped being “a project” and started taking on a life of its own.
This keynote isn’t about tech specs. It’s about how ideas gain momentum—how you connect storytelling, making, and participation to create something people actually want to be part of.
