Deep in the Wilderness: How Dripspy Reaches Where Networks Don't

LoRaWAN is often framed around outdoor, wide-area use cases — but some of the hardest environments to reach aren't in the wilderness at all. They're under a kitchen sink, behind a dishwasher, or in a concrete basement where WiFi and cellular signal quietly give out. This talk introduces Dripspy, the only Swedish type-approved LoRaWAN leak sensor, and explores how its long-range, low-power design solves a "wilderness problem" hiding in plain sight: connecting thousands of tiny, easy-to-forget sensors across entire property portfolios, through concrete and basement slabs, on a single gateway and years of battery life. We'll share what we learned deploying LoRaWAN leak detection at scale — from five-drop sensitivity to real installations that caught leaks before they became damage — and what it takes to make connectivity disappear into the background of a building, rather than demand attention from it.
