Second Wave: IoT Security Foundation, EDGE AI FOUNDATION, Eclipse Foundation, and Zephyr Project Join The Things Conference 2026 as Ecosystem Partners.

Under the theme "Put Your Demo Where Your Mouth Is," The Things Conference brings together the organizations defining what secure, intelligent, and open IoT looks like in the real world.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, May 2026: The Things Conference 2026, returning to Amsterdam on 22–23 September under the theme Put Your Demo Where Your Mouth Is, has announced partnerships with the IoT Security Foundation (IoTSF), the EDGE AI FOUNDATION, the Eclipse Foundation, and the Zephyr Project. The four organizations are shaping how connected systems are secured, how intelligence moves from the cloud to the edge, and how the open software underneath it all is built.
Bringing together these organizations in one event reflect where the industry is heading. As low power IoT crosses into mainstream production; with billions of devices already deployed and the economic value of connected systems now measured in billions of dollars annually, the questions enterprises are asking have changed. It's no longer can we connect it? but can we trust it, scale it, make it smart enough to act on its own, and build it on foundations that will last?
"What sets The Things Conference apart is its ability to connect the entire IoT value chain — from device makers to platform providers — creating a space where ideas turn into deployable solutions. That kind of ecosystem collaboration is essential for building a secure and trusted IoT." — Chris Bennison, Operations Manager, IoT Security Foundation
Edge AI Moves From Promise to Practice
Building on the momentum of last year's collaboration, the EDGE AI FOUNDATION returns to The Things Conference 2026 with an expanded role. This will include a dedicated content track exploring how edge AI is converging with low power IoT to enable smarter, more autonomous connected systems. The collaboration reflects a shared belief that the next era of IoT will be defined not just by connectivity, but by the intelligence running on connected devices themselves.
"As EDGE AI proliferates through the tech ecosystem, we're excited to partner with The Things Industries to 'collaborate and accelerate' efforts to bring AI into the real world." — Pete Bernard, Chief Executive Officer, EDGE AI FOUNDATION
"There's so much great work happening across the ecosystem, and The Things Conference has always been the place where that work gets shown, shared, and celebrated says Wienke Giezeman, CEO of The Things Industries and The Things Conference. Our 2026 theme, Put Your Demo Where Your Mouth Is, is our invitation to the foundations driving this progress. The IoT Security Foundation, the EDGE AI FOUNDATION, the Eclipse Foundation, the Zephyr Project to come to Amsterdam and showcase what they've built. Having these organisations on board sends a clear signal: this is where the people building the secure, intelligent, open foundations of IoT come together to demonstrate what's possible."
Attendees can expect dedicated content tracks, hands-on workshops, and live demonstrations exploring secure-by-design IoT architectures, edge AI inference on low power devices, open-source firmware and platform stacks, and the convergence of trust, intelligence, and openness in production deployments.
