IoT, and Open Standards for consumer markets and commercial buildings has been in Henk’s DNA since... well... since forever.

Henk started as an electronic engineer at the Philips Consumer Division. He acted in various positions: chip designer, project management, product management and standardization expert. He participated in standards for IPTV, DRM, and Zigbee 3.0, which is the foundation technology for Philips Hue.

After Philips, he moved to TUV Rheinland as global business development manager for certification of IoT devices; followed by becoming responsible for global IoT standardization and international strategy at Huawei CBG; he also represented Huawei as director in CSA’s Board of Directors for over 6 years.

Since early 2026, Henk has taken up the role as Head of business development for Thread in Europe.
